Tami Photinos, Executive Director, The Prince Charles Hospital

This weekend we have seen intense rainfall across South-East Queensland with many of us affected by widespread flooding.

In times like this, we see how our staff go above and beyond and the weekend was no exception. We are so grateful for your commitment.

Thank you to everyone who worked through the weekend to coordinate our response and to care for our patients, including our staff that attended other facilities to help out and those that joined us from other hospitals here at TPCH. We are fortunate to have clear access to our facility for staff, patients and visitors and we’re thinking of some of our Metro North colleagues who have been impacted by flooding.

Please advise your line manager ASAP if you are unable to attend any of our facilities for work.

We have some minor damage caused by the rain, including some leaking in staff and patient areas. These damages have been attended to and will be fixed as a priority. If you notice any damage, be sure to alert your line manager who can escalate this to be fixed.

While it is pleasing to see some sunshine, please remain cautious on the roads as there is still significant flood water about. I encourage you to allow extra time when driving and to check your route to work ahead of departing.

If you have been personally affected, we are thinking of you. You can reach out to Benestar, a free counselling service provided by Metro North, if you need someone to talk to.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind Regards,

Tami Photinos
Executive Director
