Happy NAIDOC Week!

This week, we celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for staff to learn about First Nations culture and participate in activities to recognise the oldest, continuous living people on earth.

The theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week – Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! represents the ongoing journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to achieve equity. For us here at TPCH, we recognise and respect this journey, and uphold the significant goal of attaining health equity and improved experiences for First Nations people within our healing system.

The launch of Metro North’s Health Equity strategy provides a strong pathway forward to achieving health equity for our First Nations people, and together, we embrace the shared vision of all Australians living a long and healthy life.

To celebrate this year’s NAIDOC Week, TPCH and Metro North will be hosting a number of activities which staff are invited to share in.

To start off the week, we are pleased to announce the launch of CCO TV, led by TPCH’s new Cultural Capability Officer (CCO), Jesse Blackman. In this first edition, Jesse will discuss the meaning and history of NAIDOC Week, and talk about how you can get involved in the celebrations for TPCH and Metro North.
