Upcoming changes to the Wellness Centre

2022-10-28T08:19:21+10:0012 May 2022|Caring Together Update|

The Caboolture Hospital kitchen refurbishment project is now well underway and making good progress.

Construction activities will now move from the wet (dishwashing) area into the dry food storage area, which will impact the ability for Food Services staff to access the dry store.

To ensure the kitchen can continue to maintain production of meals throughout the construction period and food services to patients is not interrupted, some storage and the kitchen platting line will temporarily relocate to the Staff Wellness Centre.

From Thursday 16 June, a section of the Staff Wellness Centre will be cordoned off to provide a temporary space for the dry storage area. In August, the dry store will return to the kitchen and the kitchen plating line will relocate to the Wellness Centre and occupy the cordoned off area.

You can continue to access and use the Staff Wellness Centre throughout this period and access all appliances, including the fridges and microwaves and the cabinetry and benches on the southern side (right-hand side as you enter). The deck area and most seating inside will also be fully maintained and available for staff use.

There will be some minor impacts, including:

  • Reduced seating area inside (total loss of five seats)
  • Tea and coffee facilities, including a new hot water urn, will be relocated to the cabinetry and benches on the southern side of the Staff Wellness Centre
  • TV removed from the northern wall
  • Food Services staff regularly entering and exiting the Staff Wellness Centre to access the dry storage area (June to August)
  • Food Services staff regularly entering and exiting the Staff Wellness Centre with hotboxes, bain-maries and food trolleys (August to December) during plating and during set-up before mealtimes.

Alternative locations for staff to use during meal breaks will be available during this time, including the Allied Health playground area, the main courtyard and the chapel courtyard. Staff access to the Allied Health playground will be via the external playground gate, with a new automatic keypad lock being installed in the coming weeks.

Staff can also use the appliances in the Education and Skills Centre, including the fridges, microwaves and tea/coffee making facilities, but please be mindful that patients and visitors also traverse this area.

Staff or teams that are looking to hold events and team meetings during this time are encouraged to use alternative locations, such as the meeting rooms in the executive buildings or the Education and Skills Centre.

Thank you to all staff for your patience during the construction of the Caboolture Hospital kitchen refurbishment project. It will ensure our Food Services team has the capacity to meet the higher demand for their services as our hospital expands following the redevelopment project.
