Congratulations to Caboolture Hospital Occupational Therapist Caitlin Garamy, who received a Metro North Health Allied Health – Translating Research Into Practice (AH-TRIP) grant to research neurological rehabilitation.

Caitlin said she was very excited and pleased to be starting a research journey.

“This is my fifth year of working as an Occupational Therapist, I have been working at CKW for four of these years,” Caitlin said.

“I am passionate about rehabilitation, in particular neurological rehabilitation and the impact that this can have for patients and for the healthcare system.

“My research interest has grown from seeing opportunities to improve care for patients requiring rehabilitation.”

AH-TRIP symbolises the progression of science and research into meaningful clinician practice change.

“The AH-TRIP grant is for $7000 and my project title is “The barriers and facilitators of accessing subacute inpatient rehabilitation services for acute stroke patients: multidisciplinary clinician perspectives,” Caitlin said.

“I hope the project will help to identify some key areas that we can target as clinicians, as well as provide some guidance to further service development – especially in light of the hospital redevelopment.

“I am very grateful for the grant which will allow me time to focus on the project and allow backfill for my clinical team, which will hopefully enable a better outcome. “
