Construction projects across the hospital campus and new BEMS building gets underway.
Progress on the new Clinical Services Building and Multi-Storey Carpark continues to ramp-up, with activity and trades rapidly growing each week.
The Clinical Services Building and multi-storey carpark structures are above the perimeter fence line and are now visible from McKean Street. This is an exciting milestone for our community, who can now see the construction activity and watch the buildings continue to climb-up floor-by-floor.
In addition to our two major construction sites, construction on the new BEMS Building (across from the entrance to Caboolture Adult Mental Health Team and the new water, oxygen and medical gases storage tanks (near Mental Health Ward 2 – SHMRU) is also underway and progressing well.
On the BEMS building site, piling activity is now complete. The construction team drove a total of 47 piles into the ground to ensure the foundations of the new building are safe and secure. The new BEMS building is due for completion in late 2022 and activities have already commenced to support the BEMS team to relocate to their new facility when it opens.
Significant progress has been made on the installation of the storage tanks for the new Clinical Services Building. The storage tanks will service the new facility 24 hours-a-day, providing key services to the hospital, including fire water storage and oxygen and medical gas supply.
Operational commissioning continues to be a key focus for both the project team and the hospital. The Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Operational Commissioning team is partnering with the new CKW Service Readiness team to deliver this key phase of the redevelopment to ensure staff, the new facilities and the refurbished areas are ready to operate and deliver safe, patient-centred healthcare.
As part of commissioning activities, Departmental Readiness Working Groups are progressing to oversee the planning and implementation of activities that are needed to ready and support teams to relocate.
The first three rounds of working group sessions are now complete. The fourth round is now underway, focusing on planning core activities for the next 12 months.
Relocation readiness activities are also progressing well, with planning underway to commence the monthly Move Forums in February next year (2022). The Move Forums provide an opportunity to discuss all things relocation with move coordinators, line managers, and other key stakeholders.
The project team can track the status and progress of move activities, and understand what additional support is required for service lines transitioning to a new location. All staff are welcome to attend the Move Forums.
In the facility readiness space, the project team have been hosting construction site visits to orientate key hospital staff with the new Clinical Services Building and support their understanding of their new department size and location.
