Proud Mununjali woman Chelsea created two works of art during her stay at the Royal. She’s hoping others will see her paintings and understand the beauty of her culture.
“My name is Chelsea and I have created two Aboriginal paintings while and inpatient in the Hospital Alcohol and Drugs Service at RBWH.
“I hope to inspire our mob with cultural healing for all my First Nations, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who have seen my paintings in the HADS Unit at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital in Herston.
“My aim is to improve our health and addictions with my artwork by reminding people of how beautiful our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander art is and how culture is important.
“I am extremely thankful for the care provided by the HADS staff, Indigenous Health Liaison Officer Bernadette Bird, who has culturally advocated, supported me, helped me to be strong and to continue my journey in healing with my addictions at the RBWH.
“I say to our mob: Please stay strong and positive my people.”
