Brighton Rehabilitation Unit – Compliment

“I received a call from a nurse saying that Milan had requested to see me. When I went to see him it was a pleasure to hear his reason.

Over the next 30 minutes or so, Milan repeatedly expressed his sincerest gratitude to the team at Brighton Rehabilitation Unit (BRU). He said coming to BRU and his resultant outcome was “better than winning the lotto x 100”.

Milan has spent eight months in acute and subacute facilities. He was in the Residential Transition Care Program for many months and discharged home with Community Transition Care Program for less than week before the team realised he would benefit from intensive rehabilitation in the BRU.

He reported he was initially so disappointed to go back into care and was hesitant at first but he went to great lengths to describe to me how grateful he was for the excellent care he has received in BRU, particularly his occupational therapy / physiotherapy team.

He said he has never really been sick before and cannot fault Queensland Health, he believes it is first class care and has utmost respect for Queensland Health through his interactions with Zillmere Residential Transition Care, Community Transition Care Program and BRU in particular.

He described in great detail the lengths the team went to, their use of time and ability to work around roadblocks to achieve an outcome he never thought possible.
