A number of warm welcomes

Welcome to Dr Mario de Silva who joins us as our new Director of Operations, Oral Health Services. Dr de Silva joined us from Metro South’s Community and Oral Health Service, where he held a series of senior and leadership positions.

Mario has also worked clinically at The Prince Charles Hospital, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and several regional Queensland hospitals and holds qualifications across dentistry, medicine and public health.

In addition, we welcomed Michelle Stute as our new Senior Director Clinical Operations. Michelle’s background is in home visiting services, National Disability Insurance Scheme and the COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

Closing the Gap

There was a very inspirational Closing the Gap Day event at Brighton Health Campus recently.

Francis Nona, our guest speaker, opened up about the hardships he and his family faced, and the inspirational journey he is taking to ensure that all Australians are working together for a stronger and more inclusive future.

Staff Expo comes to Brighton

The Brighton Health Campus auditorium played host to Metro North’s first Staff Expo of 2021.

Around 80 clinicians and staff took advantage of the Expo, finding out more about everything from defence force opportunities to salary sacrificing and novated leasing options.

Brighton vaccination clinicVaccination Clinic opens its doors

The Brighton Vaccination Clinic opened it’s doors this month, with Horace Nona one of the first staff to get the guns out for a jab.

Thank you to all of the staff behind the scenes who have contributed to getting the clinic up and running.

It was in no way an easy undertaking, but our Community and Oral Health staff always come up trumps, and get the job done.

Thank you to all of our staff who have come together to run the clinic – clearly an awesome effort.

Each year, we host the Take a Breather competition, and hopefully in November this year we will get back to the bowling green.

But, let’s give a big round of applause to our 2020 winners – Pharmacy, who came up with the best COVID News front page.

Sorry about the delay, but we made some modifications to the trophy and the communication guy took a break.

Leadership Essentials for Managers

Metro North’s Leadership Essentials for Managers is a two-month program of training designed to improve and expand the skills Community and Oral health staff who are looking to enhance their leadership skills or build a solid foundation to be a future leader.
