The Diabetes Service demonstrates a true passion and commitment to ongoing education and training, and they understand the importance of this to delivering high quality, current care to their clients.
Extended Care Nursing Director Michael Bishop said the team were focused on fostering knowledge and upskilling their staff but also understand the importance and necessity to do this given the ongoing technological advancements and changes to patient care delivery and monitoring systems within this complex disease.
“The team has recently supported the SEED trial of the clinical technologist with a major focus of this opportunity was improving and enhancing education and training for the team in technological advances within diabetes and also to the rapid evolution of virtual care for this unique client cohort,” he said.
“The team constantly supports post graduate students (both nursing and health professional) undertaking their Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and are committed to improving and encouraging the growth of workforce within this area.”
Michael said they were also committed to ensuring that the nursing under graduate students undertaking placements within the service have an experience that is rewarding and filled with learning to foster the importance of diabetes learning and the opportunity to increase awareness of their roles and the service.
