Our medical interns became the stars of the show at a media event with the Health Minister and Chief Health Officer. Fronting the cameras at a press conference were new interns Dr Benjamin Dilda, Dr Charlotte Lovejoy, and Dr Michaela Van Raders.

After the Minister and CHO had provided the daily COVID-19 update, attention turned to the interns, who were part of the 795 starting with Queensland Health this year.

Dr Charlotte Lovejoy told the assembled media what an exciting time it was to be starting her career as a junior doctor.

“Not many doctors can say that they’ve trained during a global pandemic,” Dr Lovejoy said.

Dr Van Raders began her internship in the emergency department. She said it was a privilege to treat patients and have them trust her with their care.

This year Redcliffe Hospital welcomed 30 medical interns.
