Director of Research and Education, Dr Joel Dulhunty, has so far raised more than $4,000 on his Big Ride for Redcliffe.
Joel is riding 2,500 kilometres on a bike from Cairns to Redcliffe, raising money along the way to support a new research position at Redcliffe Hospital.
So far, Joel says his ride has taken him through sugarcane fields, rainforests, and over lots of river crossings and steep hills on 4×4 tracks.
“Cycling the 266km inland route from Cooktown to Mareeba took us through Annan River and Black Mountain National Parks and long stretches of eucalypt woodland.”
“Places to stop were few, however we were treated to delicious bananas and papaya at Lakeland and restful stops at Palmer River and Mount Carbine,” Joel said.
