The Safe Space has launched and is here for you!

CARING | UNDERSTANDING | EMPOWERING

At the Safe Space we support people to overcome distress by offering a calm, comfortable, and healing environment away from the emergency department, and with caring, clinical and peer support available.

What to expect: The Safe Space has a chill-out space, a lounge and kitchen area and access to a garden outdoors. The space is designed to support your wellbeing and recovery. The Safe Space team consists of Peer Workers and a Senior Mental Health Clinician. Peer Workers are skilled health workers with lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.

Using their unique lenses of lived and professional experience, the team will collaborate with you to find a path to wellbeing that works for you.

The Safe Space is open:

  • Monday to Thursday 2.00pm – 8.00pm 
  • Friday 5.00pm – 8.00pm 

In exciting new four new “Safe Space” hubs will soon be accessible in Metro North.The four new Safe Spaces at Caboolture, RBWH and TPCH catchments are Safe Space hubs that will be operated by the already existing mental health hub community service providers, Stride, Communify and NEAMI respectively, and will undertake an establishment period, before opening in March 2022. The Redcliffe Safe Space hub will go out to tender in January 2022 and is expected to establish in time to open in June 2022.

Safe Space can be accessed by people presenting to the Emergency department at The Prince Charles Hospital, or by contacting the MHCALL phoneline on 1300 642 255 and enquiring about Safe Space.
