RBWH Giving Day

RBWH Giving Day is set to be bigger and better than ever!

The countdown is on to RBWH Giving Day on Wednesday 15 June, and the big question is who will win the Royal Cup?

RBWH Giving Day is one of the most important in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) calendar and is a day for Queenslanders to say thank you and raise vital funding for hospital-led initiatives.

The Royal Cup has been highly coveted since the inaugural Giving Day in 2019 and is exclusively awarded to the RBWH department who raises the most funds.

The buzz and excitement of last year’s event was unforgettable and thanks to the support and enthusiasm of Team Royal, RBWH Foundation raised more than $640,000 for RBWH. Cancer Care Services was in the lead early with their Giving Day fundraising efforts and finished the campaign with a massive show of strength, staging the now famous RBWH tug-of-war.

There is still plenty of time for RBWH departments to launch an even stronger bid to compete for the Cup in 2022!

It’s a simple process:

  1. Talk to your department leader about your fundraising idea
  2. Form a team and register: https://www.rbwhgivingday.com.au/event/your-hospital

Spread the word about your fundraising activities!

RBWH Foundation aims to raise at least $500,000 for patient care and life-saving research.

The RBWH Foundation team is busy securing major donors who promise to double every donation made by June 15.

Expect to see Brisbane turn ruby on June 13 when we Light Up Brisbane on the Story Bridge, Victoria Bridge and the Reddacliff Place sculptures. Sam Mac from Seven’s Sunrise breakfast program will also broadcast weather live from RBWH on the big day, showcasing the incredible work of Team Royal.

The RBWH Foundation is also excited to reveal a new grant process in 2022 which will distribute all funds raised to most needed areas in the hospital. By giving together, everyone can ensure we maximise funding distribution to advance patient care and life-saving research.

Key points:

  • Departments who fundraise can potentially tap into larger amounts of funding via the grants process than they would have received via the fundraising process.
  • Departments who fundraise for RBWH Giving Day will be given extra weighting during the grant approval process.

Other ways you can support Royal Giving Day this year, include:

  • Decorate your ward
    • RBWH Foundation will supply decoration packs to each fundraising department.
  • Spread the word
    • Share the RBWH Foundation social media posts
    • Create your own social media posts
