RBWH Medical Director, Palliative and Support Care Services Dr Carol Douglas is farewelling RBWH as she heads off on her retirement.
Dr Douglas was the first Palliative Care Director at RBWH and has been in the role since 2005.
During that time, she has significantly developed the service and implemented a range of initiatives to improve the quality of care we provide to patients and their families. She has also made positive changes to support clinicians throughout the hospital in their work.
RBWH Deputy Executive Director Gillian Nasato said that Carol is an exemplar of the professional woman working in healthcare.
“Carol’s compassion, integrity and generosity of spirit combined with her vision and leadership are qualities that have supported her immeasurable contribution to RBWH,” she said.
“Personally, I am forever grateful for the care she provided myself and my family during my father’s illness and subsequent passing.
“Her name is synonymous with high standards of care for those dying and an even greater level of compassion and care for their families.”
Thank you for your contribution, Dr Douglas. We wish you a very happy retirement.
