Hi Team Royal,
Welcome to the April edition of News at the Royal.
The focus of the past month at RBWH has been COVID-19 vaccine roll-out and despite the challenges faced, we have successfully vaccinated more than 6,000 staff at the RBWH clinic. We couldn’t have done this without the incredible effort and dedication from a number of teams including Pharmacy, Infectious Diseases and our amazing Administration staff who have been instrumental in ensuing the clinic runs smoothly. You can read more about the Pharmacy team’s work with the COVID-19 vaccine below.
In this edition of News at the Royal, you can read about the very special Food and Retail Services staff member who has implemented a ‘Pay it forward’ scheme at the coffee cart she works at to help brighten the day of patients going through a tough time. When things get busy, it’s easy to forget how great the people we work with are – this serves as a reminder.
The Cancer Care team has recently starting using new technology to improve patient’s treatment plans, which you can find out more about below. We also say farewell to Former Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) Medical Superintendent Dr David Cooper, who passed away recently and has left a great legacy.
RBWH Foundation will be holding their second Royal Giving Day on 23 June, so save the date! This year, the Foundation hopes to raise more than $500,000 for RBWH medical research over a 24-hour period. Stay tuned for details of the exciting activities they have planned.
Have a great month.
