Dr David Rosengren

Dear Team Royal,

Welcome to the final News at the Royal for 2020. While this year has dealt us challenges that none of us have seen before, we’ve still found so many reasons to celebrate each other, our patients and our community. You can read about many of these in this edition of the newsletter.

Firstly, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to get our hospital ready for the accreditation follow up visit. I know how much effort was required to make this happen, however it all paid off and we passed with flying colours.

In early November, RBWH’s light shone brightly at the Metro North Research Excellence Awards. I’m always in awe of how many incredible researchers and research outputs that come from Team Royal. It is so important that we stop and recognise the vital role these staff play in driving improved health outcomes across all parts of the hospital. Well done to all involved.

On 19 November, we celebrated the RBWH’s proud tradition of delivering a consistently high standard of patient care and outcomes with the annual QuARRIES awards. Each year these awards showcase some of the best and brightest RBWH individuals and teams, and this year was no different. From fostering eating disorder recovery at home to skin health for staff wearing PPE, the scope of the innovations on display were truly remarkable.

With the awards season continuing, we celebrated the Metro North Staff Excellence Awards in early December. Congratulations to all Team Royal members who were nominated and recognised in the awards. It’s always wonderful to see our staff being recognised not only for their performance and innovation, but for living out our Metro North values every day.

In this year of uncertainty, there one thing that has remains certain, and that is Team Royal’s commitment to our patients, community and each other. I know that this year has been difficult for everyone at times in many different ways, but I am so proud that despite this, you have continued to be kind to each other and ourselves. While none of us know what 2021 will bring, I know that together as Team Royal we can do anything we put our mind to, while having some fun along the way.

For those of you who are working throughout the festive season, thank you for your ongoing commitment to our community. For those of you who have some leave over Christmas, please enjoy this special time with your family and friends.

Cheers,
David.
