Hi Team Royal,
Welcome to the first News at the Royal for 2021. I hope you’ve all managed to have a break at some stage over the past few months and spend some quality time with your family and friends.
While the new year hasn’t seen the end of COVID-19, I’m confident that together as a team we will continue to approach these challenges with a positive attitude, innovation and our Metro North values. We know now that COVID will continue to be a priority for the foreseeable future, however the imminent rollout of a vaccine program is a big step towards a sustainable new normal. Complacency carries the risk of COVID community transmission so please remain committed to social distancing, hand hygiene and other COVID prevention initiatives.
In true Team Royal style, despite the challenges we have all faced we have continued our culture of excellence in patient care. From the Nuclear Medicine team who went above and beyond for a baby in NSW, to the Cancer Care team who have created a special space for their patients, I’m always proud to read about what our staff have achieved. The research space is no different, with the RBWH Research Project Grants highlighting the breadth and depth of the research that is happening here every day.
Finally, you might have seen the friendly faces of the RBWH Foundation volunteers back around the hospital again after they had a break due to COVID. If you see them, make sure to give them a smile and a warm welcome back to RBWH! If you know anyone who might like to join the volunteer crew, read the information below for more details.
Until next time,
David Rosengren
Executive Director
