Dear Team Royal,
It has been a typically frantic month at RBWH, especially in the COVID-19 space. The beginning of September saw a move to Tier Two, where we ramped up our concierge service to manage tight visitor restrictions, introduced staff check-in and embraced the newest fashion trend of universal mask wearing. Thankfully, due to the absolute commitment to these measures and ongoing social distancing and hand hygiene, widespread community transmission has been averted and we were able to move back to Tier Zero before the month was over.
Your willingness to be flexible and to respond to the needs, but most importantly to do it with a smile, has been outstanding. Thank you all.
September also brought with it RUOK? Day which Team Royal marked by decorating their workspaces, sharing COVID-safe morning teas and tuning into the RUOK? Day vidcast with CE Shaun Drummond and Chief Wellbeing Officer Bruce Sullivan. Remember to always reach out and ask the question ‘RUOK?’ if you think a colleague or loved one might be struggling. Every day can be RUOK? Day.
Self-care September has been a hit and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the wellbeing tips and tricks provided by RBWH’s very own experts. We also celebrated Queensland Health Heroes Week from 26 September to 2 October, topped off with a video of some of Brisbane’s big names saying thanks to Team Royal!
The hospital will remain very busy over the coming weeks as we continue to manage our COVID-19 recovery and also to prepare for a visit from the ACHS accreditation team to follow up on specific recommendations we received at our formal review late last year. Teams have been working hard across the hospital implementing the necessary changes to reassure the accreditation team that we are at our best. Please keep up to date with activities in preparation for the visit on November 4 and 5.
