2022 is flying by with the end of April already upon us. I hope you all were able to find some time over the Easter and ANZAC Day long weekend to share with family and friends. To those who worked I extend our thanks and gratitude for continuing to care for our patients and their families.
We have all been impacted by the challenge of staffing our organisation due to COVID-19. I sincerely thank you all for going above and beyond to care for our patients and each other during this extremely busy time. With the weather beginning to cool, this pressure is predicted to continue as we manage both seasonal flu and ongoing COVID-cases . Taking care of yourself and those around you is an absolute priority to please speak to your line manager should you require support at an individual or team level. Your senior leaders and I are always here for you as well so please just ask.
In this edition of News at the Royal, we hear about nurse facilitator Aimee Holdsworth’s amazing story of saving a member of the community who went into cardiac arrest while attending a graduation ceremony, as well as the incredible staff members raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the annual World’s Greatest Shave. We recognise RBWH Consultant Clinical Pharmacist Jason Roberts’s achievements in the pharmacy world and learn about the new pre-surgery health and wellness check initiative which is producing significant improvements in surgery attendance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. You can also find out about the Sony You Can Centre’s recent Pyjama Party, and much more.
The RBWH Foundation’s annual Giving Day is coming up on Wednesday 15th June and there are plenty of ways you and your team can get involved! Read on to find out how.
Have a great month.
Cheers,
