Genetic Health Queensland has officially launched its health equity artwork, proudly displaying it in the office reception area. The artwork was created by Indigenous artist Luke Mallie, who was commissioned to represent the collaboration of work under the ‘Integrated Genetic Health Care’ project between Genetic Health Queensland, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council and engagement with Queensland communities and stakeholders statewide.
The ‘Integrated Genetic Health Care’ project was initiated to improve access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to clinical genetics through partnership and primary health leadership.
Metro North Health Chief Executive Jackie Hanson, Genetic Health Queensland Director Professor Julie McGaughran, Principal Genetic Counsellor Bhavya Vora, and RBWH Critical Care and Clinical Support Services Director Luke Shorten attended Genetic Health Queensland to officially launch the artwork.
This formal commitment is yet another step towards health equity for Metro North.
