RBWH Allied Health Department Giving Day champions for 2022

The RBWH Allied Health Department were the Giving Day champions for 2022!

It’s official! The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Allied Health Department has wrested the RBWH Foundation Giving Day Cup from reigning team champions Cancer Care Services.

The RBWH Foundation Giving Day was held on Wednesday 15 June and thanks to the contribution of 22 Team Royal Individual and Team fundraisers, plus community and corporate support, more than $520,000 was raised in total for patient care initiatives and life-saving research.

The Allied Health Department Team raised a staggering $15,776.28, while Nutrition and Dietetics staff member Helen Woolley was crowned Individual Champion after personally raising $4015.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske toured RBWH to help present trophies to winners and place getters of both categories.

“It was a highly competitive year with Team Royal staff members fighting fiercely to win the Giving Day Cup,” said Ms Garske.

“Who could forget Helen Woolley’s inspirational fundraising walk from Kallangur to the hospital, or Women’s and Newborn Services’ Ashan Fernando and his wife Savindi, who baked throughout the night and sold more than $700 worth of cupcakes!”

The RBWH Foundation is proud to announce the 2022 winners are:

Giving Day Cup Team category:

  • First: Allied Health Department
  • Second: Women’s and Newborn Services Department
  • Third: Eat Walk Engage Program
  • Special mention: Nutrition and Dietetics Department

Giving Day Cup Individual category:

  • First: Helen Woolley – Nutrition and Dietetics Department
  • Second: Associate Professor Karin Lust – Women’s and Newborn Services
  • Third: Reece Crawford – Physiotherapy Department

“It meant so much to the RBWH Foundation to have the support and involvement of RBWH despite another demanding year,” said Ms Garske.

“Giving Day would not have been so successful without Team Royal’s energy and input, and it really lifted everyone’s spirits.”

RBWH Foundation bannerAll funds raised on RBWH Foundation Giving Day will be distributed through the Extraordinary Opportunity Grants Round which closed on Friday 30 September. The completed applications will now be assessed by a panel with representation from both RBWH and the RBWH Foundation. It is expected that successful submissions will be announced by December.
