On Monday 8 November, the 27th Governor of Queensland Dr Jeanette Young and her husband Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD paid a special visit to RBWH. As part of the Governor’s new role, she will be visiting all public hospitals in Queensland, with RBWH being the very first hospital to receive the honour.
The Governor and Professor Nimmo were escorted by RBWH Executive Director Dr David Rosengren, Metro North Board Chair Jim McGowan AM and RBWH Foundation Board Member Leona Murphy on a tour of the hospital.
The group visited the RBWH Emergency and Trauma Centre and Fever Clinic, before meeting with some team members from Wattlebrae for a debrief on how they have responded to COVID-19 and the challenges they have faced. They even had time for a quick stop off to the new Queensland Adult Specialist Immunisation Service to find out how they are helping more Queenslanders safely receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
The visit concluded with the Governor presenting a Certificate of Patronage to the RBWH Foundation.
A special thank you to all staff who assisted in making the Governors visit to RBWH a success.
