After 34 years working as part of Team Royal, Professor Michael Pender is farewelling his team to embark on retirement.
In his work as a neurologist, Professor Pender helped establish the first Multiple Sclerosis clinic in Queensland, worked as a Clinical Fellow at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, and received multiple academic honours and awards for his research into Multiple Sclerosis.
His team describes him as humble, kind and compassionate, with a passion for words and details.
One colleague said, “He appreciated his team and acknowledged everyone for their contributions.”
Professor Pender said he is hoping to spend his retirement with his family, reading, swimming and gardening.
