This month, we chatted with RBWH Internal Medicine Senior Administration Officer Catherine Pepper to find out what makes her tick! If you see Catherine around, make sure you say hi.

What motivates you to work hard?

Good patient outcomes. A role that improves services, being part of a vision and delivering care.

What is your favourite joke or quote?

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

When did you last ask someone if they are ok?

At work this week. The workload is quite high at the moment and the team can get overwhelmed. If someone seems stressed, I always ask them to see if they’re okay.

What is your favourite way to relax?

I paint in my spare time. I paint with Artforce Brisbane and do commissions.

What is your favourite thing about your career?

I love the variety, especially strategic planning.

What is your biggest fear?

Huntsmen Spiders. I hate spiders in general, but Huntsmen are the worst.

What are you most proud of in life?

I’m most proud of my artistic developments. I studied an Arts degree at University and then worked in Pharmacy for 15 years and before I went into Administration work. It’s been a big achievement being a Senior Administrator Officer and being an artist.  I won the Artforce awards presented by the Lord Mayor in City Hall – I was awarded best Energex Box in Brisbane 2018. I even won a little trophy of my painted box in addition to a cash prize. It’s a fabulous initiative where artists can display permanent public works and foster community spirit.
