Staff across RBWH took part in awareness raising activities as part of Malnutrition Awareness Week in October.
Championed by the Nutrition and Dietetics department, wards took part in an intense competition to adorn their wards with the most original and compelling decorations to build awareness about malnutrition.
Twenty-five to thirty percent of patients at RBWH are malnourished, which can lead to complications and longer stays in hospital.
Ward decorations included activities, interactive displays, a life-size carrot, posters, and food mobiles hanging from the ceilings.
In addition, the Nutrition Research Collaborative, coordinated through RBWH, held their inaugural symposium during Malnutrition Awareness Week.
The event brought together dietitians and nutritionists from across Brisbane to discuss the latest nutrition and dietetics research.
