Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Intensive Care Nursery Acting Nurse Unit Manager Donna is passionate about sharing her knowledge with the world.

For some of our specialist staff, sharing their knowledge and skills with remote and regional communities has become a lifelong passion.

Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Intensive Care Nursery Acting Nurse Unit Manager Donna has always been driven by her love for neonatal care.

She has shared her knowledge far and wide, from the remote corners of Queensland to Papua New Guinea and even to Tonga, teaching others about the critical care tiny patients require.

Since 2014, she has been travelling to Papua New Guinea to run a special interest group in neonatal education, which now provides regular education sessions to local health providers on neonatal specific issues.

“It gives you a real perspective on what you can do, even with limited resources in remote parts of the world,” Donna said.

“Every time I visit these places, I’m reminded of the amazing services nurses and midwives provide.”

After 25 years of nursing, Donna is now the Acting NUM of the ICN Unit at RBWH, leading with the same compassion and dedication that has shaped her entire career.
