Yesterday, Team Royal enjoyed delicious home-made burgers at the annual Christmas barbeque. Members of the RBWH Executive Leadership team employed their best burger flipping technique as they got behind the barbeque to say thanks to RBWH staff for a great year.

Congratulations and thank you for your service to RBWH, Dianne!

RBWH’s very own aqua man

RBWH’s very own aqua man

RBWH’s PSO Dave Conner has earned himself quite the name as the hospital’s resident aquarium expert.

Dave brought in all the aquarium supplies from home when he first started working here four years ago and set up a tank in ward 9BS for patients and staff to enjoy. Since then, he frequently spends his lunch breaks caring for the fish, cleaning their tanks, and ensuring they are as happy and healthy as possible.

“The patients really enjoy coming to watch the fish and the snails. They often bring the Eat, Walk, Engage Group up here to look at them,’ Dave said.

“I was recently called to one of the other wards to provide some emergency care for their aquarium set up. I managed to work out what the problem was and now their fish are happy again.

“It’s great to be able to bring some extra joy to the ward.”

Well done to social workers Olivia Abbot and Emily Needham for their Christmas creativity!

A social work Christmas!

The RBWH Social Work team ran their very own Christmas decorating competition within their department. The highlight was a scale model of James Mayne and Ned Hanlon Buildings, complete with a helicopter arriving from the North Pole! Well done to social workers Olivia Abbot and Emily Needham.
