Nurses and midwives are the backbone of RBWH and earlier this month we celebrated their amazing contribution for International Day of the Midwife (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May).

Our valued nurses and midwives were treated to a free coffee to say thank you, and there was also plenty of cake to share.

RBWH Director of Nursing and Midwifery Andy Carter said the influence of nurses and midwives is so often centred around compassion, experience and guidance.

“As Maya Angelou famously said ‘people don’t always remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel’. This is particularly true in nursing and midwifery roles. The impact we have on the lives of our patients, their families and each other stays long after the connection has ended,” Andy said.

“Every day our nurses and midwives make a positive difference to the lives of their patients and colleagues.

“I am proud of our nursing and midwifery workforce, both on these days and every day.”
