RBWH has welcomed the next generation of medical specialists, with 92 medical interns commencing in January.
Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the interns were able to kick off their year at RBWH via a virtual orientation, before hitting the ground running in various departments throughout the hospital.
Medical Intern Stellina Lee said she is excited to be back at RBWH after undertaking her elective rotation at the hospital last year.
“I wanted to complete my intern year at RBWH as there are lots of teaching opportunities and the staff who work here are really helpful and supportive. I also really like that you get to see patients at RBWH that you wouldn’t see at other hospitals.
“I’ve heard great things from people I know who have completed their intern year at RBWH, who have all told me it’s the best place to be.
“My dad is a doctor and growing up he tried to discourage me from going into the profession because he knew how much hard work is involved. As it turned out, I had a natural interest in science and the human aspect of psychology.
“When I was accepted into medicine my dad was actually really excited, which pleasantly surprised me!” Stellina said.
“I’m most excited to start taking responsibility and to be a real doctor. As a medical student you are often just an extra person watching on and learning, so I’m really looking forward to being useful and consolidating my interests.”
Good luck to all of our RBWH interns. We’re excited to have you on board with Team Royal.
