Just some of the amazing Social Work team on Cupcake Day

The RBWH Social Work team has banded together to provided much needed support to an important cause of the furry variety!

The Social Work Domestic and Family Violence Service decided to use the RSPCA Cupcake Day as an opportunity to promote awareness of the Pets in Crisis program and raise funds for the initiative.

Pets in Crisis is a partnership between RSPCA Queensland and DVConnect and aims to provides safe accommodation, food and vet care to pets whose families have escaped domestic and family violence.

Thanks to the teams amazing work, they raised a whopping $906 dollars to the Pets in Crisis program!

RBWH Domestic and Family Violence Coordinator April Buchholz said she is thrilled to see the team get on board by baking cupcakes, providing a photo of their pet to feature on their “Pets NOT in crisis” display and donating money.

“This cause feels close to our hearts, as refuge accommodation for families experiencing domestic violence cannot accommodate pets. If accommodation cannot be found for the pet with family or friends, the abused often chooses to stay with their abuser for fear of what will happen to the pet if they leave without it,” she said.

“Thank you to everyone who made a donation, contributed a pet photo, told me how much Pet of the Day was making them smile or showed me a video/pic of their dog enjoying my first attempt at a pupcake!”
