Team Royal enjoy wellbeing Wednesday

A little rain didn’t dampen spirits at the annual RBWH Wellbeing Wednesday held on 12 October in support of National Mental Health Week.

Food trucks, giant lawn games and a picnic on the green provided opportunities for Team Royal to foster conversation, fun and new connections.

The theme for National Mental Health Week 2022 was A.B.C of Mental Health:

Awareness – learning about mental health and wellbeing, ways to care for yourself and others, and where to find help.

Belonging – looking out for each other and understanding that however we feel, we are not alone.

Connection – finding meaningful connection with social networks and supports that help foster mentally healthy practices.

RBWH Peer Responder Coordinator Renelle Hardy said that events like Wellbeing Wednesday and National Mental Health Week are an opportunity to raise awareness of the impacts of mental health and wellbeing.

“The theme of this year’s National Mental Health Week helps educate people about the key factors involved in enhancing our own and other’s wellbeing in the workplace,” Renelle said.

“Research from the Black Dog institute has revealed that mental illness is now the leading cause of sickness and long-term work incapacity in Australia, which highlights the importance of this issue.

“There are lots of ways you can prioritise wellbeing, such as practicing self-care, checking in with yourself and others and staying connected with important networks. It’s important to do these things every week – it’s a lifestyle.”
