Vale Lesley Fleming

Dr Lesley Fleming OAM passed away on the 22 February 2021. Lesley was the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Services Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and Metro North Hospital and Health Service for approximately 10 years until 2014.  

Lesley was a passionate nurse, a wonderful colleague, a friend to many and a mentor to many more. Her calm demeanour, resilience during times of crisis and her ability to think strategically put RBWH and Metro North on the map from a nursing and midwifery perspective. She had the foresight to commence one of the first Patient Flow Units in the country and was instrumental in the implementation and management of nursing and midwifery workforce strategies. Much of her legacy lives on today and she will be greatly missed by those who kept in contact with her during her relatively short retirement.
