John Corowa – STARS Indigenous Health Liaison Officer

John Corowa is the latest addition to the STARS Indigenous workforce as the STARS Indigenous Health Liaison Officer.

John joins the STARS team to help Close the Gap and provide safe and culturally appropriate healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

At STARS we are building a culturally capable workforce where Aboriginal Torres Strat Islander staff feel supported and are empowered to provide culturally safe care for members of their community.

Our dedicated Indigenous Health Liaison Officer will provide cultural support and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. John will be the friendly, patient facing connection for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community visiting STARS and he is just a phone call away.

An Indigenous Health Liaison phone booth is on the ground floor reception area in STARS to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander to reach out to him to make their hospital experience more comfortable. To access John’s support, patients can pick up the phone, and press 1 to speak with John or to leave him a message.
