Healthy conversion for TPCH gardeners

Who thought gardeners could get any greener? Well TPCH gardeners are proving they can do just that with the recent conversion of their gardening equipment from petrol to rechargeable battery power.

The transition, which is an initiative of Green Metro North – Sustainability Strategy 2021-2026, represents Metro North Health’s commitment to take action towards environmental sustainability and delivery of high quality health services for the community and future generations.

The conversion of the gardening equipment will not only reduce emissions; it will mean lighter equipment for the gardeners and quieter green spaces for everyone on the campus and the surrounding areas.

TPCH is one of a number of Metro North facilities to undergo the conversion, with RBWH, Northlakes and Brighton also acquiring the new equipment.

Green Teams are now established at all Metro North facilities including TPCH which established its Green Team late last year. The Green Team provides an opportunity for staff to share their ideas about how we can make TPCH a more environmentally responsible place for our staff, patients and visitors.
