Our Building Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) team has recently become greener with the acquisition of some new environmentally friendly utility vehicles.

The new battery-operated Polaris GEM buggies, have replaced BEMS former utility vehicles which were diesel and petrol operated and not road registerable.

It was identified at a Health and Safety/OVP committee last year, that all utility vehicles used on TPCH campus needed to be road registered, as all internal roads at TPCH are gazetted and therefore need to comply with the requirements of external roads.

The new buggies are road compliant, featuring lights, indicators, seat belts, reversing cameras and a horn.

Manager of BEMS George Papas said, “The new vehicles will provide a much safer and environmentally friendly option for staff to transport tools and supplies, and travel between different jobs around the campus.”

BEMS will replace their remaining utility vehicles with the new buggies in the coming months.
