Staff from TPCH’s Endoscopy Service have gone above and beyond after recently hosting a Super Saturday to see more patients and improve endoscopy wait times.
The Super Saturday initiative resulted in the service performing around 50 additional endoscopy procedures and seeing 70 patients through the specialist outpatients department.
The initiative has been previously undertaken over the last few years to assist with managing patient long waits in the lead up to the end of financial year, resulting from the growing number of referrals to the service which is now one of the busiest of its type in Queensland.
Director Gastroenterology and Hepatology Dr Tony Rahman said that staff willingly worked outside normal hours to allow more patients to receive their procedure or attend a specialist outpatient appointment.
“This strategy supports the Endoscopy Service in being able to provide patients with the care they need in a more timely way,” he said.
“This is a great example of teamwork to achieve patient-centred outcomes.”
