The Staff Council wanted to provide an update to the feedback we have received via our feedback forms. The forms ask staff to provide two wishes and a star.

So far, we have received 34 feedback forms and the Staff Council continue to work through these individually.

Here is an update of what has been actioned so far:

  • 3 wishes have been forwarded to the relevant committee for their awareness and actioning as appropriate
  • 2 wishes have been sent to relevant area managers
  • 4 wishes have been highlighted to executive for further action

A few examples of issues that have been raised through this feedback form and have been resolved:

Issue 1: Feedback received about obtaining a ‘Silent Knight’ medicine crusher instead of using mortar and pestle.

Outcome: This idea has been previously discussed at the Medicines Safety Committee and with the NUMs of the rehab wards. Infection risks, costs and environmental concerns of all options were considered. The outcome of this discussion was to continue with the current process of crushing medications in the mortar and pestle between two paper cups. Please speak with your area NUM if you want further information.

Issue 2:  Feedback received from a few staff regarding Delta Therapy Dogs.

Outcome: Due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions these visits were put on hold. As a result of the tier levels being lowered, the therapy dogs are now visiting patients again weekly on wards on level 4, 5 and 6.

Issue 3: Feedback received regarding patient’s difficulty contacting clinics to confirm or enquire about appointments.

Outcome: Since June 2022, Amazon Connect was introduced for inbound calls with a call-back service to help with this issue. If you need more information, please contact Natalie.Barratt@health.qld.gov.au

If you have specific questions about where your feedback is up to, please email us (STARS_SC@health.qld.gov.au).

If you have your own feedback, we’d love to hear from you! We want to know what you’d like to see at STARS and what you think we’re doing well. Click here to fill in the feedback form.
