Dear colleagues,

Whew! It’s been a week of ongoing changes in the COVID-19 response. This message touches on a few of the key things, with links to further information where relevant.

Queensland COVID-19 cases

Yesterday, the Chief Health Officer announced that Queensland had one new case of COVID-19, the partner of a woman who travelled from Victoria to Queensland and tested positive yesterday while on the Sunshine Coast.

While serology results show the pair are at the end of their illness, transmission risk is present and it’s important we are mindful of any symptoms, no matter how minor they seem.

There is substantial additional testing occurring on the Sunshine Coast as well as additional vaccination opportunities being stood up right around the state.

Please check the list of locations visited by the pair on the Queensland Health website, and if you have been at any of these locations at the time listed, you must immediately get tested and follow the directives for quarantine. This includes remaining away from any health or aged care facilities for 14 days.

Our facilities will not be restricted to visitors, unless you have been in a listed hotspot where you are required to quarantine.

If you have not been to these locations but experience any COVID-19 symptoms, please make it a priority to get tested and stay at home from work until you return a negative result.

Our fever clinics are operational and ready for testing, with a range of locations and opening hours available here.

Updates to VIC hotspots

From 1 am this morning, the Local Government Areas in Victoria that are not in Greater Melbourne were removed at hotspots. However, the 36 Local Government Areas that make up Greater Melbourne remain declared as COVID-19 hotspots.

Anyone who has been in Victoria in the last 14 days must apply for a Queensland Border Declaration Pass at least three business days before they enter Queensland.

Vaccine update

Queensland has administered more than 1 million COVID-19 vaccines. If you are yet to receive yours, or have family or friends who should get vaccinated, encourage them to attend one of our vaccination clinics. We are very keen to connect COVID-19 vaccine to people who want to be vaccinated.

Recently RANZCOG and ATAGI issues a joint statement for COVID-19 vaccination for pregnant women. It is available here.

For more information on our clinics and to book an appointment visit our COVID-19 vaccinations webpage.

Kind regards,

Dr Liz Rushbrook
