Dear colleagues,

Our Staff Excellence Awards are now open and the nominations are coming in thick and fast!

We have more than 21,000 staff across our health service who are all working hard each day to deliver exemplary patient care and to improve the way we do this. If you know someone going above and beyond, why not nominate them? Categories include:

  1. People Focus
  2. Innovation
  3. Excellence in Performance
  4. Leadership
  5. Values in Action
  6. Excellence in Integrated Care
  7. Excellence in Training and Education

Get your nominations in.

Next Thursday, 9 September 2021 marks R U OK? Day. This day, and over the next week, serves as a timely reminder to check in with your peers and direct them towards additional support should they need it. I’d like to include some of these key services offered by Metro North Health here for easy reference:

  • Peer Responder program: confidential psychological first aid and information to help staff link with other services, if needed.
  • Benestar (employee assistance program) which offers free confidential 24/7 support via 1300 360 364.
  • The Metro North Staff Psychology Service – available for self-referrals – 3647 9673 or email MetroNorth_StaffPsychology@health.qld.gov.au

Additionally, use this as an opportunity to reflect on your own wellbeing and the wellbeing of your loved ones. I encourage you to make some time to prioritise this over the weekend or when you next have a day off. It’s been a big year and we’ve had ongoing stresses presented to us with the ever-changing COVID-19 situation.

Our Have Your Say results have arrived with managers this week and we look forward to sharing those with you all shortly. The Have Your Say survey is a key step in committing to our goal of continually growing and improving to be the best workplace we can be.

Regards,

Jackie
