Dear colleagues,

Individual tickets and tables are now on sale for the Metro North Staff Excellence Awards gala dinner. This is our first time opening the event to all staff to come along and celebrate together. The event includes a sit-down dinner and drinks, entertainment throughout the night, the awards, and a COVID-friendly dancefloor.

Applications are currently open for the Cliff Pollard Award through Jamieson Trauma Institute. Associate Professor Cliff Pollard AM has been a member of the Metro North Board, chair of the Queensland Statewide Trauma Clinical Network, Director of the Queensland Trauma Registry and Director of Trauma Service at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Jamieson Trauma Institute.

The Cliff Pollard Award will support health practitioners to continue Cliff’s pioneering work, to improve outcomes after trauma, implement trauma care improvements in Queensland, and advance the opportunities, impact and benefits of trauma care in rural and regional areas. Applications close on Sunday 28 November.

Congratulations to the 12 Caboolture Hospital HealthCare Academy students who graduated recently with a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance. Caboolture Hospital and TAFE Queensland Brisbane (Caboolture Campus) has run the Academy for the past six years, supporting students to complete both a Certificate II and III in Health Services during their Year 11 and 12 studies.

Earlier this week I held a vidcast which received several questions about COVID boosters. I’ve asked Dr Andrew Redmond to hold a vidcast next Wednesday at 12.30pm to talk about COVID vaccination and booster shots. Recordings of all our COVID vidcasts are also available on QHEPS.

If you’ve been with Metro North for a while you might not have updated your diversity data recently. The questions recently changed, so I encourage you to go into MyHR and check whether your data is up to date. The questions include whether you identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, a culturally and linguistically diverse person, a person with disability, an LGBTIQ+ person or an Australian South Sea Islander person. Updating your information helps us better understand our workforce to create an environment that is inclusive and supportive.

Regards,

Jackie
