Metro North Olympics Readiness Activities
Metro North is working closely with the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA), the Department of Health and the Herston Health Precinct to prepare for the Games. The first phase of this preparation is working closely with partners during construction to ensure continued access to health services including parking for staff, visitors and patients, and ensure we proactively identify and work together to mitigate any other impacts which can occur during construction (as we do with all construction activities on and around Metro North sites). This includes considering any implications and additional activities that need to be undertaken to monitor and reduce risks such as noise, vibration and air quality. There are four separate construction projects occurring in Herston, including Brisbane Stadium and National Aquatic Centre in Victoria Park, and the Athletes Village and new RNA Stadium at the RNA Showgrounds. Construction in Victoria Park will commence 1 June 2026.
