Overview
Metro North Health is the largest of 16 hospital and health services in Queensland. We collaborate with healthcare partners to deliver services to over one million people north of Brisbane. We offer services across all major health specialities including medicine, surgery, mental health, cancer care, trauma, womens’, children and newborn care, and more than 30 sub-specialities. Our services extend to rural, regional and tertiary hospitals, community health, oral health and public health and include a wide range of clinical support and non-clinical services. Our diverse health service offers a variety of rewarding career paths and opportunities.
We’re committed to delivering excellent patient-centred care and high-quality services. Our passion for people is reflected in our values and in the way we work every day. We expect our staff and volunteers to put people first and to translate our values into action by providing relevant and efficient care that responds to patients’ needs and wishes. In turn, we support and nurture our team members so that they can provide the best possible care to patients.
What’s a Hospital and Health Service (HHS)?
A Hospital and Health Service is a legal entity responsible for providing health services. Metro North Health was established in 2012 as an independent statutory body. It’s overseen by a local Hospital and Health Board under the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 (Qld).

Our strategic direction
Our strategy is to deliver responsive, integrated, connected and quality frontline services to strengthen public health care for the people and communities we serve. We support equity of access and health outcomes for all, particularly those most at risk of poor outcomes. We measure quality according to an individual’s experience of their care, and that of their family and support networks. We maintain a focus on people in order to continue improving our patients’ experience, to support and develop our staff and to work with our partners to better connect care and improve outcomes. We put our values into action.
