There are multiple training options available to staff, with the Recognise, Respond, Refer training, available on TMS being mandatory for all staff who work at Metro North Health.

Domestic and Family Violence Workforce Specialists
Did you know that Metro North Health employs two Domestic and Family Violence Workforce Specialists? Our Workforce Specialists provide training and professional development to all Metro North Health staff surrounding various topics relevant to domestic and family violence. Newly employed staff across the health service
- It is mandatory that at commencement of working within Metro North Health, all new staff complete the online module: Understanding Domestic and Family Violence Online Module for Health Service Employees. Additional information is accessible through reviewing the Understanding Domestic and Family Violence booklet.
- It is also mandatory that all staff complete the Recognise, Respond, Refer e-learning training within 90 days of commencement and refresh this training every 3 years to increase their knowledge about supporting a colleague who is experiencing domestic and family violence by completing.

All staff across the health service – ongoing training

All staff across the health service working within specific clinical areas
All staff across the health service working within clinical areas, specifically maternity services, emergency departments, community child health, paediatrics, allied health, mental health, alcohol and other drug services, sexual health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and multicultural health services are required to complete both of the below domestic and family violence training packages within 6 months of commencing work with Metro North Health and refresh the training every 3 years:
- Clinical response to Domestic and Family Violence online training module.
- Face to face training session in addition to the above clinical response to domestic and family violence online training module. Contact your line manager for further information on face-to-face training availability or alternatively, contact one of the DFV Workforce Specialists listed under the ‘Domestic and Family Violence Workforce Specialists’ drop down listed on this training page.
